Welcome to our fall blog hop! If you’re coming over from Ana at Fiddle Leaf Interiors, welcome!
I’m so ecstatic to show you how I’ve incorporated fall into our farmhouse! If you’re new here, we are in the midst of fixing up an 1800’s farmhouse in good ole Michigan. I love to share our fixer upper journey here on this blog and show budget friendly tips for styling your home as well as super easy DIY’s and tutorials. Today, I can’t wait to show you how I incorporated some fall decor into our home while keeping it simple and on budget! I mean, who can afford to buy all new fall decor every single year?! Certainly not me!
When we first moved in, my husband and I whipped up this door headboard from an old antique door we found in our barn (tutorial here). He built a ledge on it because in our bedroom, we simply didn’t have room for two nightstands with how close the doors were on either side of our beds. He figured this way, I could at least set things up on this ledge, and our headboard could actually serve a purpose. I love to decorate the headboard for the seasons, and this year I picked up a super simple garland from Hobby Lobby (50% off) and some super simple felt pumpkins from JoAnn’s Fabrics. They have awesome door-buster deals all the time and last time I went, all of their fall decor was 60% off!
I simply set the garland up top first and nestled the felt pumpkins randomly across it. I also found the cutest fall sign at Hobby Lobby for 40% off. I always switch up my signs here and it gives this space a whole new feel.
I tend to swap out throw pillows too as the seasons change. It’s an excuse to buy something new and is such a great way to change a space up. If you have a HomeGoods near you, they always have the best seasonal pillows. I picked up this pumpkin one for $16.99 and it matched my bedroom decor perfectly!
Typically, I don’t decorate for the holidays in my kitchen as much but I did incorporate some fall in here as well. We don’t usually eat at this island and it’s typically empty. I chose to set it for two by incorporating some dishware I had extra of, and added a pumpkin to each place setting. I’m also that girl who shamelessly purchases all of the pumpkins from the Target Dollar Spot. $1 for a pumpkin?! Such a steal! I purchased 11 of them and stacked them on a white cake platter I had on hand.
I held out decorating for fall far longer than I did last year. Next up is our front porch that I just picked up so many mums and pumpkins for and my fall dining room tablescape!
