Hello everyone! I am so excited to share this DIY window project with you today! I originally bought a vintage window for my bathroom renovation but then found a vintage medicine cabinet that fit that wall so much better. It ended up working in my favor, and this window fit perfectly in my dining room! You can customize this any way you want. I chose to go with the farmers market theme and got to work on my Cricut designing the perfect decal. I originally meant to make a stencil to paint the design on but paint bleeds very easily on glass. Instead, I made a vinyl sticker. This is the after and boy do I love my DIY window in our dining room!
The Tutorial
If you have a Cricut or Silhouette this is going to be so easy for you! You just design what you want, cut it our mirrored on vinyl, and stick it onto the backside of the mirror and you’re all done! I’m going to include pictures of this at the end. For those of you that do not own your own cutting machine, you can do this just as easily with a printer! Design what you want on word and print it out. Cut out your design and trace around it on the window. Then just use acrylic paint and fill your stencil in carefully. This project should take no more than 30 minutes! Also, if you are using a Cricut or Silhouette, Glad Press N Seal is a lifesaver for transfer paper. At a fraction of the cost, it’s a no brainer. I’ve also found that it’s not as sticky as transfer paper and is so much easier to get your vinyl to remove from it.
Here is the window with my design on the back of the glass so it had that hand-painted effect. Also you can see the Glad Press N Seal here. All you do is press the design down with the scraper, and then peel off the Press N Seal. I used saw tooth hangars to hang the window, which is now a huge focal point in our dining room.
