I’ve shared this easy project with you all several times and it never even crossed my mind to share the easy tutorial. Many people mistake this for an actual chalkboard, but it’s really just a poster I glued inside of an antique window. So many people have asked me how I did this, so I thought now was a great time to show you just how easy it is to make this repurposed window project!
Antique windows are easy to come by nowadays. I find them at antique shops, salvage shops, garage sales, Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace and even barn auctions. This one here I picked here I picked up at a local salvage shop for $5. They have thousands of windows at reasonable prices.

Next, I picked up this poster at a local antique shop. I found a similar one for you here but I’m also going to share a few free downloadable printables that you can have printed too for less than $3!
I used this spray adhesive to attach the poster right side down in the window. Don’t worry, it dries clear. I then attached the window to the wall using saw tooth hangers.
Because this project was so popular, I went ahead and created some free printables that you can download and have turned into poster size for less than $3. I’ll be including instructions for that as well!
Here are the printables I created just for this project:
You can access these printables and download them in the printable resource library by subscribing to our monthly newsletter here. You will then be given the password to access the printables, and it will always be provided at the bottom of my monthly newsletters.
Printing Your Poster
If you want these poster size, you can’t do it at home on your printer. But I have a few options that are EXTREMELY affordable and pretty easy to follow too.
Printing at Staples
First, head here. This is where you’ll choose what type of print you want. If the printable you chose is in absolute black and white, choose the B&W Blueprints option. If it has any color on it, choose the Color Blueprints option. Click “Buy Now” on the type of print you would like. This will take you into the design phase.
Then upload your pdf file you downloaded from my free printable resource library by using the section labeled “files” in the upper left corner. Then check to make sure you have your orientation correct. Both of the printables I’ve provided here are portrait. Add your design to your cart and you can then have it shipped to your or pick it up for free at your local store (the best option).
Pricing is as follows for an 18″x24″ poster:
Color Blueprint- $2.99
B&W Blueprint-$1.79
Printing at Office Depot/Max
First, head here. Then choose your paper size, select color or black and white, and choose your orientation. You can upload your printable pdf by choosing “upload file” that is displayed where your document will be. Once you have it how you want it, choose “Add to Cart”. You can also have these shipped to your or pick it up at your local store. Shipping can be expensive though, so if you choose this option, I would recommend having several posters made so that the shipping cost is worth it.
Pricing is as follows for an 18″x24″ poster:
Color Blueprint- $2.89
B&W Blueprint-$1.69
Did I not tell you how easy and budget friendly that project was going to be? And the best part is, when you get sick of it, pull the old poster printable out, wash, and replace with a brand new one!
