Recently, my husband and I started making some wooden signs to sell in our booth. Not long after I received an email from a lady who told me she saw my wooden sign at Katydid’s and wanted me to make her a custom one. We had never done a custom one, but I thought it would be a fun project to take on. Her and her husband wanted a “Feed and Grain” sign, 5 feet long, that looked like it came off an old building.
The Final Product
I did a black trim with black hand painted lettering. I used Annie Sloan’s Old Ochre for the neutral background. I used a dark wax to make this wooden sign look aged and antiqued.
This was by far the largest wooden sign my husband and I have made. It was just over 5 feet and 10.5″ tall.
Here’s an up close shot of the sign. I also distressed some of the lettering to add to the aged detail. I loved how this sign turned out and wanted to keep it for above my hutch. The couple who I designed this custom wooden sign for absolutely loved it and said it was exactly what they pictured.

How cute! I’m impressed! Such a fun farmhouse feel.
