I had stumbled upon this old cupboard while out thrifting one day. Well, actually, I had 20 minutes to walk through an antique store before meeting a girlfriend for a workshop. I had my husbands truck that night due to bad winter roads and it ended up being the perfect storm, literally. I spotted this cupboard and knew it had to come home with me. As soon as I saw it, I thought how perfect my pint jars would fit inside it. It needed some work but it was the right price and the owner even gave me a discount for coming in there and supporting her small business often. So we got it in hubby’s truck and off I went. It did need some serious work but when I got it home, we found the perfect location for it in the kitchen. It fit the wall perfectly. My handy husband came up with some support to put into the back of it so that it would support the weight of all my canning jars. And after a few hours, we had it rebuilt and hanging on the wall.
I recently ran out of room for my canning jars and food storage in the cupboard that sits
below this new one. I decided to move all of my pint jars up and into this canning cupboard up on the wall. And I think I’m in love. It is such a glorious sight seeing all your hard work and newfound skills staring back at you. I love that the cupboard has leaded glass doors so that I can see all my colorful food looking back at me.
Due to the depth of this cupboard being so small, it can only fit pint sized canning jars. But I just keep my quarts in the cabinet down below and was able to save space without having to add another cupboard..yet! Soon, we’ll likely have to add a shelf in the basement for all of our canning jars and food storage. We plan on growing a huge garden this year and I’m sure I’ll run out of space before I know it!
