Exciting new, we finally ripped up our laminate floors and revealed the wide plank 1800's oak flooring! I promise I'll fill you in soon, but while the kitchen is under renovation, I wanted to share the breakfast nook that I styled amid all the chaos!

For the most part this space hasn't changed much. We kept the kitchen table, except I removed the center leaf to make it a circle. I also repainted it and I'll be sharing all the details on that soon! The most exciting addition is that green cabinet there. Hubby and I were headed back from returning the floor sander, and spotted a little old woman setting some furniture out by the road. We snagged this cabinet for free and it fits perfectly in this space. I'll eventually give it a fresh coat of paint but I love it. The top opens up, as well as the doors with plenty of storage inside which is never bad in a kitchen!
I usually have a runner or tablecloth on this table but wanted to show the new paint job off and keep it simply, so I opted to keep it bare.

To celebrate the beginning of spring, I added lots and lots of fresh plants! I purchase all of these from a local store called Trove of Portage. She always has the freshest plants in the cutest moss covered terra cotta pot. Hubby cut up an old porch post we had found under our deck, so that I could create some vintage plant stands. They worked perfectly in the breakfast nook on the table and styled on my new cabinet.

I added my favorite chunky knit blanket from Loose Linen! I just purchased the mustard color which is even more gorgeous in person and perfect for spring! I use these all over my house and just display them in basket, crocks, on beds and chairs, and even in my laundry baskets!
We also added some bright and fun area rugs from Rugs USA. These particular ones were on clearance so I snagged a round one for the dining area in the kitchen and a runner for over by the island. They add just the pop of color this space needed.

We're still working away on this little ole kitchen of ours, and things will most likely change still. But I wanted a cute and cozy corner amid the chaos I feel when our home is under constant renovation and covered in dust!
