I decided to give our living room a quick summer refresh and added a few fun details that scream summertime to me! Let’s get started, shall we?!

The first thing I think of when I think of summer is all the beautiful colors that bloom in our state! I decided to bring in some fun pastel colors to the living room this year to accentuate that and just add a fun pop to this room. I love to experiment, and the seasons give me an excuse to try new things!
See that coral blanket hanging on the wall? I found that for $10 at an antique store and knew that would be the perfect cozy vibe for spring and summer! I hung a vintage hook on the wall, and display various blankets depending on the season. This one was perfect for summer with it’s warm bright colors, and small flowers that are sewn into it!

I decided to play with the coral and pink color and added another light pink chunky knit throw on this side of the couch. It pairs perfectly with my moody blue wallpaper and makes our sofa look even cozier. If you know me, you know I am a fan of blankets, and pillows! You can never have too many, and you’ll always find several blankets perched in each room in the farmhouse!

Like I said, you can never have too many pillows right?
I shared a while ago how I styled this shelf behind the couch by layering a few frames and an old window. It’s just a piece of wood on some shelf brackets. I wanted something that I could easily swap my decor out on, and a shelf seemed like the perfect fit. It’s narrow enough that people won’t bump their heads, and I can easily swap my decor out from season to season. I’m still on the hunt for a pretty framed floral print to add up here, but until then this will do.

On the other side of my couch is this painted floral tapestry. I just have two screws up above that I use to swap out different tapestries and wall hangings depending on the season. For Christmas I hang a linen cloth with a carol lyric printed on it, and for summer, this floral tapestry is the winner!
I couldn’t find this exact tapestry, but Urban Outfitters has some really affordable ones to fit everyone’s style if you are looking for some easy wall decor!

I made this adorable spring/summer hat not too long ago, and I plan on adding some fresh floral blooms as soon as Michigan weather allows it! You can see the full tutorial for how to make this hat wreath here!
I can never decide where I want to hang it so I tried it here above the couch as well as on one of my large windows in the conjoined dining/living area.

I hope you enjoyed this tour of our summer time living room! Don’t forget to check out the other homes below and see what they cooked up for their summer decor!
