Thrift Store Find
I found this corbel, actually two of them, at a thrift store for $12 total! It’s a new little store around the corner from my workplace, and I knew they’d be perfect for our bedroom! They just needed a bit of a facelift.
It was the perfect addition to my dresser but I wasn’t loving the stained look. I wanted it to blend in here, not stand out.
Step One: Paint
Fusion Mineral Paint was kind enough to send me some paint to try out! I couldn’t wait to use “lamp white” and busted it out for this corbel project. They also sent me that paint brush, and let me tell you, this is the best paint brush I’ve ever used! It gets in all those tiny crevices and just paints like butter.
I put on one coat of the lamp white, but didn’t spend time making sure I covered everything. I wanted this to have a chippy look and was planning to dark wax it later anyhow.
Step Two: Dark Wax
Once one coat of the lamp white had dried, I used my waxing brush and applied a heavy coat of dark wax over the entire corbel, focusing on the spindles.
Thrift Store Corbel: After
That’s it! This whole project took a half hour, drying time and all! I love how it turned out and can’t wait to paint the other matching corbel!
Aren’t the details on this little corbel cute?!
My spring corner is complete now and I love it!
