I know what you’re saying..”it’s too early for Christmas”, but hear me out. I really just couldn’t wait to show you this new gallery wall that I put together and since I had already got out the christmas decorations, I couldn’t help myself. As a blogger, I love to give inspiration early enough so that everyone can use my ideas to help them decorate for Christmas. So that’s why I’m here today to share just a bit of christmas goodness with you, share our new gallery wall and some tips for creating one, and a sneak peek at our new kitchen chandelier. I’ll also be sharing some affordable farmhouse decor from Amazon that you can use on your own gallery wall as well!
Gallery Wall Update
In the past two years that we’ve lived in this house, this little corner has remained untouched. I hung my grandmother’s very old clock and a picture frame ladder up and called it good. Whenever taking pictures of this space, I avoided letting that corner sneak into my photos. But why? If I hated it so much, why didn’t I just change it up.
This took one trip to Hobby Lobby and less than $100 later for everything you see on that wall plus a plethora of christmas decor not shown. Every item was 50% off! If you’re not a Hobby Lobby junkie yet, a super helpful tip is that they change their sales every other week. If the item is not on sale, chances are it will be next week!
Many people, when they think of a gallery wall, think it has to be an extra large and bare wall. But you can create the gallery wall look with a small space and just a few pieces. I’ll be sharing some of my biggest tips for creating a gallery wall yourself down below!
Tips & Tricks for Hanging A Gallery Wall
1. Lay It Out
This is a huge step in a successful gallery wall hanging. Grab a roll of some brown kraft paper or anything large enough to tape together to resemble the size of the area on your wall you’ll be placing your items. Lay this out on the floor and arrange your pieces exactly how you’ll want them on the wall. Then using a pencil, mark exactly where your pieces are on the paper as well as where you’ll need to insert your screws. Tape this large piece of paper up on your wall, and drill screws into place. Rip down paper, and hang your gallery wall!
2. Pick Pieces You Love, Then Fill
I can’t stress this enough with any home decor. Pick pieces you love! Especially the larger pieces that will be on the gallery wall. Once you’ve found spots for the large, important pieces, then go back through and fill the little spaces with minimal, smaller pieces.
3. Space Doesn’t Matter
Okay, you need some space to create a gallery wall, but it doesn’t have to be a huge, empty wall. With a few great, varying size pieces, you can create a gallery wall with just 3 or 4 items. I created mine using just 5 pieces, and only one larger piece. Big or small, it’s still a gallery wall.
4. Use Various Size Pieces
A good gallery wall uses various sizes of home decor. Mix and match large, small and medium size pieces to create the perfect gallery wall. Otherwise your gallery wall is just going to look like you threw up home decor all over the wall, and we don’t want that!
5. Group Small Items Together
If you have more small items to hang on your gallery wall compared to large items, you can group a few of the small items together to help it look like one larger piece.

I like this because it can make every home unique and special in its’ own way. It is not too early to talk about Christmas! It is only a month away.
Would you be able to tell me where you got the mirror that is on the left side of some of the pictures? It looks like it’s 2 coordinating pieces and sits on a buffet table…? Thank you!!
I wish I could but it was passed down from my grandfather when my grandma passed. I do believe she found it at Big Lots but it would have been like 7-10 years ago! Sorry I’m not help, it is two separate pieces though.
