It’s been a while since I shared my office. Remember when we renovated our fourth bedroom into an office for the One Room Challenge? Well, I’m ashamed to say that after that it just became a dumping ground for anything home decor that I just didn’t need at the moment. When we renovated the office, we didn’t think to organize the closet in the office, which just led to an explosion of things. With Marie Kondo making an appearance on Netflix, I felt obligated to purge and organize all the things including the office closet. With this change, came a few new additions to the office!
Do we want to talk about the chair first or that fabulous new rug?!
I honestly bought this rug on a whim because Rugs USA was having a huge sale and I had no idea where it was going to end up. Little did I know it was way larger than your typical runner and was the perfect fit in my long but skinny office.
I ordered two of these in different colors and I’m not sure which one I’m more obsessed with. You can shop the rugs here!
Last time I photographed this room I had two white kitchen chairs I had reupholstered. They didn’t roll and were kind of low for this DIY desk. I searched high and low for vintage office chairs and found this one for a great deal on facebook marketplace! It was in pristine shape and rolls perfectly. I’m hoping to get another one soon to finish off this space.
Hubby and I went thrift shopping last weekend and came home with some amazing vintage finds. One being this vintage watercolor that was only $4 at one of my local antique shops. The green hues in it went perfectly with my chippy green sliding door so of course I had to hang it up in here.
A while ago I found the top of an antique stepback covered in dirt in the basement of our farmhouse. It took me two years to finally lug this thing upstairs and clean it up. It’s been moved around the farmhouse quite a few times but I think I’m finally happy with it up here! And I finally found a home for all my crocks that I scored for a few bucks at one of my favorite flea markets.
There’s just a few more things to finish up in here! I’d like to get rid of that bench and find a pretty vintage chair to replace it. I feel like the bench takes up too much space and a chair would fit this space so much better!
I’m also waiting to receive a new shipment of paint in and we’ll be repainting the wall lights to a deeper green to match the chalkboard.
We’ve really tried to stick with the time period of our farmhouse and I feel like we knocked it out of the park with this room. The original wood floors and the chippy doors add the perfect patina and I’m so glad mama finally has a space to call her own!
